OCTT Wins Three International Television Programming Awards
(Washington, DC) The District of Columbia's Office of Cable Television
and Telecommunications (OCTT) was recently awarded one (1) Award
of Excellence and two (2) Awards of Distinction by The Videographer
Awards (TVA). These awards were made to OCTT at the conclusion of
TVAs most-recent annual international programming competition
and were given to acknowledge OCTTs superior television programming.
The three programs so honored by TVA were produced by OCTT and aired
on OCTT TV-16.
OCTTs Washington Full Circle: Premier Episode - an
all-access backstage pass to ALL things Washington, produced by
Ferman Patterson - received TVAs annual Award of Excellence
in the Television Programs/Government/Other Category.
Each year, TVAs Award of Excellence is given to a program
(in its respective category) that is judged to have been written,
produced, shot and edited in an exceptional manner.
OCTTs video featurette Car Sharing - highlighting
the benefits of car sharing for the District, including less traffic
congestion, less pollution and increased availability of parking,
produced by Tamika Felder - received TVAs annual Award
of Distinction in the Television Programs/Government/Informational
Category. TVAs Award of Distinction is given
each year to a program (in its respective category) that is judged
to have clearly exceeded industry standards.
OCTTs video profile D.C. Fire/EMS a characterization
of the evolution of the role of the firefighter in the District,
produced by Cecily Fernandez received TVAs annual Award
of Distinction in the Television Programs/Government/Fire
Category.
The Videographer Awards is an international awards program
directed by communications professionals for the purpose of honoring
the most-talented individuals and companies in the video production
industry. Contest entrants include video production companies, advertising
and public relations firms, corporate communications departments,
cable and broadcast television operations, government agencies and
schools, independent producers and special event producers.
The Videographer Awards is designed to identify communications
professionals who are raising the standards of the industry and
to publicly acknowledge that the respective work of the TVA awards
winners is outstanding and highly-regarded by their peers.
OCTT is the District Government Agency that manages the Districts
Government Access Channels OCTT TV-16 and OCT TV-13. The
mission of OCTT TV-16 is to provide information regarding the many
programs, services and opportunities made available by the District
of Columbia Government. The mission of OCT TV-13 is to provide
gavel-to-gavel coverage of the live and recorded activities of the
D.C. City Council and its various committees. Together these two
channels are intended to provide District of Columbia residents
access to the activities and processes of their government.
