OCTT Wins Three International Television Programming Awards

(Washington, DC) The District of Columbia's Office of Cable Television and Telecommunications (OCTT) was recently awarded one (1) Award of Excellence and two (2) Awards of Distinction by The Videographer Awards (TVA). These awards were made to OCTT at the conclusion of TVA’s most-recent annual international programming competition and were given to acknowledge OCTT’s superior television programming. The three programs so honored by TVA were produced by OCTT and aired on OCTT TV-16.

OCTT’s Washington Full Circle: Premier Episode - an all-access backstage pass to ALL things Washington, produced by Ferman Patterson - received TVA’s annual Award of Excellence in the “Television Programs/Government/Other Category.” Each year, TVA’s Award of Excellence is given to a program (in its respective category) that is judged to have been “written, produced, shot and edited in an exceptional manner.”

OCTT’s video featurette Car Sharing - highlighting the benefits of car sharing for the District, including less traffic congestion, less pollution and increased availability of parking, produced by Tamika Felder - received TVA’s annual Award of Distinction in the “Television Programs/Government/Informational Category.” TVA’s Award of Distinction is given each year to a program (in its respective category) that is judged to have “clearly exceeded industry standards.”

OCTT’s video profile D.C. Fire/EMS – a characterization of the evolution of the role of the firefighter in the District, produced by Cecily Fernandez – received TVA’s annual Award of Distinction in the “Television Programs/Government/Fire Category.”

The Videographer Awards is an international awards program directed by communications professionals for the purpose of honoring the most-talented individuals and companies in the video production industry. Contest entrants include video production companies, advertising and public relations firms, corporate communications departments, cable and broadcast television operations, government agencies and schools, independent producers and special event producers.

The Videographer Awards is designed to identify communications professionals who are raising the standards of the industry and to publicly acknowledge that the respective work of the TVA awards winners is outstanding and highly-regarded by their peers.

OCTT is the District Government Agency that manages the District’s Government Access Channel’s OCTT TV-16 and OCT TV-13. The mission of OCTT TV-16 is to provide information regarding the many programs, services and opportunities made available by the District of Columbia Government.
