OCTT Changes Name to DC Office of Cable Television

(Washington, DC) The District of Columbia's Office of Cable Television and Telecommunications has been officially renamed the DC Office of Cable Television, as set forth in an Administrative Order signed and released by Mayor Adrian M. Fenty.

To herald the change of its agency name, OCT will engage in an extensive branding campaign that will include new on-air station graphics, public service announcements and a revised agency logo featured at the top of this page.

"The change of name better reflects the specific mission and precise responsibilities of this agency," said Eric E. Richardson, OCT Director. "Change ensures our ability to maintain and grow the level of innovation, leadership and reliability District residents have come to expect of the Office of Cable Television; as well as build excitement and anticipation for future developments."

OCT is the District Government Agency responsible for regulating cable television in the District, as well as the administration of the District's Government Access Channels TV-16 and TV-13. The mission of TV-16 is to provide information regarding the many programs, services and opportunities made available by the District of Columbia Government. The mission of TV-13 is to provide gavel-to-gavel coverage of the live and recorded activities of the DC City Council and its various committees. Together these two channels are intended to provide District of Columbia residents access to the activities and processes of their government.

OCT will begin the process of revising the content of TV-16 and TV-13, its Web site and other informational materials immediately to reflect the name change.
