Office of Cable Television Captures Six Videographer Awards

Washington, DC - The District of Columbia Office of Cable Television (OCT) has received six (6) 2010 Videographer Awards in an international awards competition that recognizes outstanding achievement in video productions. OCT collected two (2) Awards of Excellence, two (2) Awards of Distinction and two (2) Honorable Mentions from the Videographer Awards (TVA) at the conclusion of TVA's most-recent annual international programming competition. The awards were given to acknowledge OCT's exceptional television programming.

TVA's Award of Excellence honors were awarded to OCT's Blizzard of 2010 Snow Removal and Washington Full Circle: Cinema City. TVA's Award of Distinction honors were awarded to OCT's Enslavement to Emancipation and OCME: More Than a Morgue. TVA's Honorable Mentions were awarded to OCT's DYRS New Beginnings and Life Skills.

OCT Director Eric E. Richardson expressed gratification for the recognition and noted "We have an incredibly talented group of broadcast professionals working together as a team here at OCT who, on a daily basis, bring the activities and programs of the District government to our TV-13, TV-16 and DKN viewers."

TVA is one of the most respected awards in the video industry. There were approximately 1,800 entries from throughout the United States and several other countries in the 2010 competition. The goal of the Videographer Awards is to identify and recognize the video artisans who excel in the scope of their own environment.

Winners were selected from 166 categories under the headings of television production, video production and new media. The Award of Excellence was awarded to those projects that the judges deemed were written, produced, shot and/or edited in an exceptional manner. The Award of Distinction was awarded for projects that exceeded industry standards. TVA is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals.
