DC Office of Cable
Television Earns Its First Emmy Nomination
(WASHINGTON, DC)
- The National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy
of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS-NCCB) has recognized the
DC Office of Cable Television (OCT) for an Emmy® nomination
for their production of The Sound 'Tribute to Chuck Brown'
in the category of Arts/Entertainment Program/Special. The honors
will be presented at the NATAS-NCCB 55th Emmy® Awards on Saturday,
June 15, 2013, at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront, 700 Aliceanna
Street, Baltimore MD.
"We congratulate the
entire OCT team for its dedication and commitment to showcasing
the rich cultural legacy of the District of Columbia," said
District of Columbia Mayor Vincent C. Gray. "It is especially
fitting that the program being recognized pays tribute to DC's own
musical icon, the 'Godfather of Go-Go', Chuck Brown." The
Grammy Award nominated musician passed away one year ago today.
The Emmy® Award is the
premier television production award presented in various sectors
of the television industry, including entertainment programming,
news, documentary shows and sports programming. The awards are presented
in various area-specific ceremonies held annually throughout the
year, honoring excellence in television programing. NATAS-NCCB is
the chapter responsible for awarding the Emmy® to those who
work in the television industry in this region.
"We are delighted to
be among the nominees for the 55th Emmy® Awards," said
OCT Executive Director Eric E. Richardson. "It is also deeply
rewarding to know that DCN (District of Columbia Network) is the
District's go-to source for government and lifestyle programming
that educates, informs and entertains."
"It is truly a unique honor for a public, educational and government
entity to be included in an industry competition alongside network-affiliated
broadcasters for one of television's most prestigious awards which
speaks to the high quality of programming we consistently seek to
deliver," said OCT Director of Television Programming Karen
Tolson.
